The Association of Indians in America (AIA) marked the 77th independence day of india by hoisting the tricolor in the presence of hundreds of people at Daley Plaza in Chicago, Illinois, The event, which started with the national anthem of India, and the US also featured cultural activities and speeches by the dignitaries in attendance.
Maria Pappas, Cook County Treasurer, was the chief guest at the event. She presented a proclamation congratulating the entire Indian American community on the important occasion to AIA president Hina Trivedi, chairman Salil Mishra, AIA national vice president Santhosh Pandey, and Prem Mehrotra. Mehrotra also received a lifetime leadership award from AIA for his 30 years of dedication to the organization during the event that Nilabh Dubey, Shabana Rahman, and Santosh Pandey emceed.
In her speech, president Trivedi urged the community to keep supporting the all round growth of kids and empower women. She appreciated the parents for teaching instilling Indian cultural values in their kids and encouraging them to perform at the memorable event. According to a release, kids of all age groups actively participated in the cultural program, performing at the patriotic songs, and were joined by their families and friends.
