CHICAGO, IL- On a pleasant Sunday afternoon, October 29th, the Illinois Chapter of the AIA gathered to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti at Ashiyana Banquets, an event that has evolved into a cherished tradition since its inception in 1985. The occasion brought together AIA members, trustees, and esteemed guests, marking a significant annual milestone.
The event commenced with a stirring speech by President Hina Trivedi, who eloquently underscored the visionary ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, emphasizing the importance of youth in leading India towards unity and strength. Following her impactful address, AIA National VP Santosh Pandey and AIA Chairman Salil Mishra shared their insightful perspectives in their speeches.
The keynote address was gracefully delivered by Dr. Kanak Hota, who admirably illuminated Mahatma Gandhi’s profound contributions to India’s struggle for independence and the subsequent transformation of the nation. Dr. Hota emphasized Gandhi Ji’s tireless efforts in promoting self-sufficiency and independence among the Indian populace.
In the absence of Mr. Prem Mehrotra, Shabana Rahman read a heartfelt message that focused on Gandhi Ji’s teachings of love and peace, highlighting their enduring relevance in today’s world.
Nilabh Dubey, the AIA Secretary, then took the stage to discuss the contemporary relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s quotes in the modern IT world, drawing connections to concepts like the “Say-Do” ratio and the significance of teamwork.
As a poignant tribute to Gandhiji, President Trivedi, joined by members and guests, offered flowers as a shradhanjali. This solemn moment allowed everyone present to pay their respects to the great leader and his enduring legacy.
